Friday, June 16th IMU & CiTR 101.9FM present Matthew Mei CD Release Party & BBQ w/ The Pete Werner Band, Edmond & Debi Wong @ The MEDIA CLUB, 695 Cambie . 8pm / $10

MATTHEW MEI - Having traveled the world as the son of a preacher man, Matt's initial introduction to the world of music was his dads classical, old blues and folk records, but it was his struggles in life and his soulful growth that fueled his desire to write emotional and heartfelt songs. Matt teamed up with Jonathan Anderson (Jonathan Inc.) at Buena Vista Studios to create a thoughtful album that showcased some of his favorite songs he had written over the years. Be sure to join Matt and his special guests tonight to hear songs from his new CD, "Contribution to Sound", a solid rock/folk excursion with bluesy undertones, hip hop beats and a most welcome retreat from the current atmosphere of commercial and trite ready-made music. http://www.matthewmei.com

PETE WERNER BAND - Living in Vancouver with his roots in Calgary, Pete Werner combines alternative country roots with traditional rock and roll to deliver stripped down songs that reflect stark country imagery and electric energy.
