Just wondering if someone can recomend some local recording studios.

We are looking to Record a 6 song cd, With radio quality production, with affordable rates.

We are a rock band.

Depends on a few things. There's a few great places. But it depends on your budget and your style. How much are you looking to spend? Most studios will work around your budget, but you'll get significantly different results. Style wise- do you want a rocky-jam sound? Talk to Adam Sutherland. He owns Infinity Studios. He might be willing to do it, I have no idea. But he's really great for a well produced sound. Definately radio quality (lots he's done is on the radio). Yeah, I sent him a message on myspace about a month and half ago, he never responded. But he definately has a very well produced sound.

If you can convince scott henderson into working with you guys; he's a great producer/engineer too(and has/had alot of cool gear to boot). He's since closed sea of shit but might be working on somthing else?(anyone care to elaborate just yet?)
Otherwise, other studios like the rats nest are good but if your looking for radio quality you might wanna spend more time looking for a niche studio that caters to your specific needs. Audiogarage seems like a pretty cool place; though in their website they lack a definitive answer for an hourly rate. I realise that you cant give a definitive answer as to how much a particular demo/album will cost in the end; but at least give us an hourly rate we can work with and estimate.
Adam's great for radio quality sound... but like the others said; he's also got alot on his plate.
C- i also know of some private studio's that might be willing to take on a project(they certainly have the equipment but not as much time as they would like to devote themselves to a full on studio), just email me if your intrested and i'll hook ya up! I think he's (scott) doing something in Sooke called Lap of Luxury. I talked to him about it a while back but my band ended up recording everything ourselves. I wouldn't really recommend it for a radio band. Great for punk, metal, and other stuff that doesn't get much airtime. But that was really old stuff that I heard, I don't know what he's doing now, soundwise.

That's cause they generally don't have an hourly rate. If your budget is $20000 they'll work around that, if it's $1000 they might work around that too. It all depends on how much you want done and to what quality and in what format and all that. Just call them and tell them you want and what your recording budget is and they'll tell you what they can do. I haven't had personal experience there, but my drummer swears they're totally awesome.
