Molly Raher Newman
A Versatile Performer specializing in several genres of music and spoken word as well, Molly plays many instruments, specializing in lap dulcimer, zither, bowed psaltery, and a range of percussion stat stretches from Spanish castanets to crazy washboard rhythms. She is a lead singer with the celtic band RIG-A-JIG, and plays every Friday Night at the Blethering Place Restaurant. Her solo act includes music from her first solo instrumental CD "Serenade-music of antique instruments" Produced by Ken Hamm in Nanaimo, quickly followed by release of "Words Enough - Selected Readings of EMILY CARR", a 73 minute recording with selections from 4 of her 7 books.
The music of "Serenade" is also used in the First EMILY CARR Talking Book: "The Book of Small", released in February, 2002.
Molly is working on her first solo vocal CD "Molly's Fancy", being recorded at Raincoast Sound in Nanaimo.
