Starfucker, Octopus Project
Starfucker is the name of an indie-electronica band from Portland, Oregon formed in 2007, initially started as a solo project for Joshua Hodges.[1] Members include Joshua Hodges (vocals, keyboards, guitar, drums), Ryan Biornstad (guitar, keyboard, vocals, turntables), Shawn Glassford (bass, keyboards, drums), and Keil Corcoran (drums, keyboards, vocals). Hodges describes the band's music as "dance music that you can actually listen to, that's good pop songs, but also you can dance to it." The band enjoys nothing more than playing live shows for teenagers and watching them have a good, fun time.Their song, "Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second" (2008) was used in Target's "Pink Pepto" commercial in 2009[2] created by the Portland ad agency Wieden+Kennedy and as selected as the AdWeek's "Ad of the Day" on September 4, 2009.[3]
In the fall of 2009, they changed their name to "PYRAMID"[4] then "Pyramiddd"[5][6], finally reverting back to Starfucker in April 2010, although they may use the name STRFKR when touring.
The Octopus Project is an American indietronica band based in Austin, Texas, active since 1999. Its unique sound, blending pop and experimental elements, is a combination of digital and electronic sounds and noises (including drum machine, keyboard, synthesizers and other devices) and analog equipment (including guitars and live drums). Its music is mostly instrumental.
