A Montreal-based soul-jazz singer-songwriter with origins in Haiti, Dominique Fils-Aimé recently completed the first two CDs of a trilogy exploring African-American history through its musical culture – from 19th century slave songs to the hip-hop of 2019. A listen to her albums, Nameless and Stay Tuned! makes it clear that Fils-Aimé has both the powerful vocals and the imagination to meet her musical ambitions. A charismatic live performer inspired by Nina Simone and Martin Luther King, Fils-Aimé moves from vintage jazz to trip-hop to sultry soul jams, even touching on reggae and R&B with confident style. Another not-to-be-missed JazzFest debut!
