April 27, 2013: The Princess in the White Jade Jar
A pairing of Chinese folk stories from ancient China and Chinese Canada. Using music adapted from Peking Opera, Chao Chung Weighs An Elephant is about a clever boy who solves a problem that stumps even his father’s courtiers. For the second story, Chinese Canadian scholar, Lily Chow, created a magical and mysterious character who explores the Fraser River in a tiny jade jar and finds friendship with a poor gold miner.
Composed by David Clenman.
