The VCM Opera Studio is proud to present Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne and Pasatieri’s comic opera, Signor Deluso. *Two Performances – Dec 9th and Dec 10th*
Bastien und Bastienne was one of Mozart’s earliest operas, written in 1768 when he was only twelve years old. Written as a satire in the ‘pastoral genre’ which was prevalent at the time, this ‘singspiel’ will be sung in German with English dialogue and includes clowning aspects of the Commedia dell’arte.
Signor Deluso is based on Moliere’s play Sganarelle and is a comedy of errors which follows two couples who suspect their true loves are having affairs with others. This Opera Buffo was written by the American composer Thomas Pasatieri in 1974.
