Very, very worthy. Definitely a step up from 'Gateways to Annihilation,' that album unfortunately drowsed me out a bit but they kicked back up to shape with this release. The first 2 tracks are a straight-up onslaught, fuck I love Sandoval's battalion-style drumming, it slays!!! Tracks three and four are a bit slower too, but, I don't know, I like 'em better than gateways for some reason. Tucker's vocals are WAY better too, that was the only thing I didn't like too much about 'Formulas Fatal to the Flesh,' he's fucking improved heavily (especially that one tune 'Praise The Strength.') You'll get a good chuckle out of the 'Drum Check,' and it's interesting to hear Sandoval's other instrumentals since he's always exclaimed about how much of a DEAD CAN DANCE fan he is. This album is eclectic and all around impressive. Sweet cover art too. Although I'm still a little partial to 'Covenant' and 'Domination,' this is still worthy. Grab it.

Ahh, found it. Yeah this album is really growing on me. At first I was a little disappointed in the guitar production but I have come to like it. And the track "Drum Track" is fucking intense, Pete Sandoval is one of the best drummers out there. - Thu, 23 Oct 2003 7:46am

I stole this all off of Kazaa. Better then Gateways and Formulas IMO. Best thing since Domination, though I'd love for David Vincent to get back in the fold. He's one of my favourite singers of all time.

Check out the new Dimension Zero - This is Hell.
Quality death/trash from one of the members of In Gaymes (ugggh) and some other dudes (old Marduk drummer i think among others).
And speaking of Death/trash from Sweden, have any of you heard the new Crown album? Holy fuck what a piece of disappointing shit (aside from maybe 3 songs).
The new Macabre (Murder Metal) on the other hand, is seriously fucking rad. One of the best metal albums of 2003 IMO. - Fri, 24 Oct 2003 2:25pm

As far as I'm concerned, everything interesting with Morbid Angel went out the window once David Vincent left. The songs (imo) have lost the originality and creativity which put Morbid Angel musically on the top of Death Metal. Look at how many Obituary/Entombed/Death clone bands there were in MA's early years. They would never write a song like "desolulate ways", "fall from grace", or "god of emptiness" now. - Fri, 24 Oct 2003 3:00pm

I havent heard the new one yet, but I would have to agree with Chris that they have lost their originality since
David Vincent left.
I started listening to them before Alters of Madness even came out. - Fri, 24 Oct 2003 4:59pm

Fantastic! Just picked it up last night (I know I'm a little bit behind here)

This album is super original, from the weird but excellent production to the poly-rhythmic riffing to the chaos that passes for guitar solos. For the most part a very fresh album, with one song (track 9, I believe) sounding like a lost recording from the 'Blessed are the sick' sessions.

Excellent. - Fri, 31 Oct 2003 5:55am
