| ska-t User Info... |  Los Furios - Warning Shot - Megalith Records A couple of years ago The Aggrolites coined the term 'Dirty Reggae' to describe their sound. This term could easily have been coined as a reference to this band. Los Furios have gone threw some major changes in the past little while. The Vancouver ska outfit has signed a record deal with Megalith Records (home of such notables as New York Ska Jazz Ensemble & The Toasters), endured the untimely deportation of one of their key members (who tracked his parts on the CD from his home in San Salvador) and has also abandoned any attempts to squeeze themselves into the standard clean-cut ska-punk genre focusing on creating a grassroots musical movement that focuses on their fans and not commercial airplay. Through the good and the bad – They’ve persevered well and this release is solid proof that these newly crowned kings of the Vancouver ska scene are making their mark with their fool proof recipe of ska, Latin jazz, reggae, urban rhythms and high energy. The songs could easily fall under the usual ‘party ska’ label, but many lyrics have a neo-political freedom rock element that gives the music both a body and a mind that goes beyond the usual “pick-it-up” rhetoric. | ska-t User Info... |  DJ SKIP CIUT RADIO SKA PARTY TORONTO ONTARIO CANADA Los Furios - Warning Shot Megalith Records http://www.megalithrecords.com http://www.losfurios.com Los Furios has been one of my fave Canadian bands since I first heard "Running In Circles" on the All-Skanadian 4 compilation. An irresistible blend of ska, punk, reggae and Latin sounds complete with some solid, memorable lyrics that will take up some critical headspace instantly. Even though I can't comprehend all the Spanish parts I'm surely digging their groove. Topics range from politics and survival to just plain wanting to party proving the band is interested in all aspects of life. Highlight tracks include the pumpin' "seventyseven" and the legendary "Respect" which gladly continues the Furios tradition of writing some great empowering, danceable anthems One of the things I enjoy the most about this disc is the variety. There's not too much of anything and just enough of everything else I'd want to hear. From head bobbin' slow skanks to all out, full throttle, petal to the metal ska romps you are sure to find something here to suit your mood and your style. Another nice touch is that the vocal duties all get shared around the group. There are some fantastic toasting bits as well as some sweet group harmonies. The guitar, trumpet, trombone and rhythm sections all get their time to shine and none get too repetitive. Los Furios has arrived and this is your warning shot.
