I picked up this CD for $10 at lyles place... They are one of my favourites, and I thought I might as well pick it up. It starts of as a howling chord, and then kicking right into the punk-rockabilly ballad I know and love as "Temptation". The song is fast, short, and hard, with some perfectly fitting lyrics. Next is Jungle Cat, it too, is pretty good, even as (IMO) the worst song on the EP, it too has some EXCELLENT words to it, and Nick13's voice fills them perfectly (out looking for my tigeress, in fishnet stockings and a rockin' dress... I dunno why, but that may be my favourite quote ever now). Next is a cover of Eddie Cochran's Twenty Flight Rock. This song is very rockabilly influenced, with some distortion and some all out balls-to-the-walls energy, making it the perfect stop-and-go american psychobilly anthem (by the way, I love the slap bass in this song...). Then comes a psycho/rockabilly cover of Misfit's American Nightmare, and it is damn cool, 'nuff said. Then comes the infamous FTW, its fast, loud, and carries a message. And then (my favourite) Nocturnal!!! I believe Geoff Kresge (the new slapper) does the backing howls on this, and man, does he pull it off.

The whole EP isn't even 13 minutes long, but it is just a snippet of what Tiger Army has done. The whole genre is hard to define, but imagine misfits playing rockabilly. if that doesnt turn you on, you're screwed. This is the very epitome of the crap music I know and love as American Psychobilly. Not quite the same as the Psychobilly you will hear from most bands from Europe, as they seem to actually carry a message, and are a lot more punk based rockabilly, instead of psychobilly itself.

If this sounds interesting, go down to lyles place and pick it up for $9.99 plus applicable taxes. It gets 5 of 5 dan conner retard stars... - Fri, 9 Jan 2004 9:08am
