Good crowd, good bands, good show. Thanks to Mike for the efforts, and as for that young prick smashing beer bottles outside for fun,- don't. - Sat, 9 Aug 2003 2:28pm

Mystery Goost, The Diskettes, AK47, Thee Goblins and The Evaporators. An amazing amount of fun this show was. The Diskettes were great entertainers if their songs were a tad simple, the girl in the group had a really nice voice. AK47 played a great set too. The Evaporators absolutely ruled, Nardwuar is the best. He crowd surfed on his keyboard, funnest show in a long time. - Sun, 10 Aug 2003 8:13pm

Yeah, I have to agree. The very obvious prevailing theme of the evening was FUN.
The Diskettes playing on the grass, the "Stuntman" and the new Evaps song "Frustrated Fat Fuck" with it's "slowed down" chorus were the highlights for me.
(During AK's set I sawed the side of my thumb off, broke 2 fingernails down to the quick, played several chords a half-step in the wrong direction and STILL had a great time.)

This show really reminded me of the way a lot of shows felt for me in the '80s-- 3 (or 4 if you count Theeee Goblins) very different bands thrown together and all the people present intent on having a good time.

Betweent this show and the great turnout at the in-town Hardcore shows, are we in Victoria witnessing a new "Golden Age"? ;)

Thanks to Mike Croy for contacting me and letting AK47 be a part of a special night... - Tue, 12 Aug 2003 4:12pm
