On FEB 16 - 2007, 6 VAN/VIC bands and around 150 friends came together at The Cobalt to celebrate the life of Victoria punk legend Jason Brown. The line up – The Neo Nasties, TBA, THE REBEL SPELL, THE SHIVS and BREACH all brought their best. Blark helped AWT finish up the show and we all raged into the night. Over the stage, right in the middle of the countless gig flyers - a huge black and white poster of Jay in his vest - a€ huge smile on his face. Ang and Jay's closest Victoria friends were there in full support, showing incredible strength when some of us couldn't. By the end of night Wendy, Chi, The Cobalt, Vancouver and Victoria Punks raised over 2000.00 for Jay's daughter's education.
It was a great show to honor our dear friend. As Wendy says in her own review, you would've been proud Jay.

If anyone has photo's - IRA!!!! - Please post'em

Playing the show was a real honor for me and for Breach. We all knew Jay well. I first met him around 85 when he hung in Piss alley with some of the first real punks in Victoria. Eventually I started to skate with the crew around View street and I got to know Jason. I remember he was instantly friendly and stuck up for me more than once when we ran into trouble. Eventually we became part of the same core group of bands/friends, spending pretty much the next 10-12 years at the same parties, BBQ's, concerts, whatever. When I look back on my life and times in the Victoria punk/skate scene Jay was just always there. Damn it, he was the scene. Thinking of it without him just doesn’t work.

He was one of a kind - simple as that - - he made me laugh every time I spoke to him - I am proud to have called him an old friend - the number of memories I have is so infinite I can't begin to list them.

Rest In Peace my Friend.
I won't forget you.

It was exactly what he wanted. We all laughed, told stories and gotten astoundingly wasted... Perfection. Thanks to Wendy, and everyone involved at the 'Balt for putting together such a fitting tribute.

I started working with Jason Brown at the Limit in 2000. I immediately took to him. We had a lot of good times at the club together and I loved the guy. I always felt good to have him around because he was very street smart. He was also very positive about everything. With all the scum in the world, he helped buffer it. He will be missed. - Wed, 7 Mar 2007 4:12pm
