| Sati User Info... | EXCELLENT! Obviously I'm stoked about this.. And Italian grindcore just sounds dead sexy. I also got the impression this is an early show because there's a jazz show booked for later on? If this is still correct, everyone please come early and stay late with me.. I know a couple of the jazz guys playing so I'm pretty sure it'll be something special. Grind AND Jazz on the same night at the Cobalt is just another of my fantasies come true! - Thu, 5 Oct 2006 11:23pm | ||

| Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | I would have been so there with galoshes on. - Thu, 12 Oct 2006 5:45pm | ||
| Sati User Info... | Hey Curmudgeon, yup, galoshes would've been totally in order for this one! I suspect that Braden actually has a pair (don't know where that came from.. a memory?.. its late). This show was a long time ago now, but that was a fun night. Meat of Mankind has got to be one of the very best bands out there - its like I keep forgetting or something! They've got all the makings of a big show, for a big room... swelling dynamics and drama. I'm just so impressed every time I see them, and for some reason that isn't often enough.. they play pretty regularly too. So that itself was enough. But the 2nd band who's name I haven't been able to remember since (Population Reduction!), was killer too. Its not too often that I see out of town bands hold up to our city's best, and I think they followed MoM excellently. Not to mention the one guy (there was only him & a drummer) was funny and charismatic and intelligent.. I want them back. They're just over in portland or something. HESHER, I WANT THEM BACK! Please bring 'em again, they seemed into it too. When he does make sure the play Victoria too, you guys will like 'em. The italian band kinda bugged me at first. I think it was the language barrier, and the macho "fuck you" posturings of the singer. I really didn't think they were too interesting, and found them pretty cheezy, so I eventually wandered outside. But then I found myself watching intently from outside, and really liking what the drummer was doing a lot. So there ya go.. either they got better, or I got some much needed fresh air to my foggy brain. Then.... duh duh duuuuuuuh... ZUCKUSS!!!! ZUCK-USS!!! ZUCKUSS!!! Man, do I feel wimpy when I'm screaming for ZUCKUSS. Thats when I want a man's torso for my voice to resonate in, and an adam's apple. ZUCKUSS!!! I love showing them off to out of towners. I can't say that I've been especially surprised or especially enchanted by any of their sets recently... they're just consistently great. It may be because I haven't been able to hear the singer's growls as clearly in a while. They did play a song that completely confused me at one of these shows, where I just stopped and stared with my mouth hanging open like a dolt. But I like being challenged by those guys. I always wonder whether they're fucking with me though, ha! I think this was the show when someone was a little to obnoxious in the pit. DUUUH! Do you hae act like a blithering idiot at a Zuckuss show? I know that the person in question has the capacity to get what they're doing too, but he was behaving like one of those people who don't and who're just there pretending to cuz they're cool. grrr. Anyway, TENDONITIS are playing in November, YAY! I'm never gonna get to sleep. Then there was a transition where the jazz crowd came in and the metal crowd hung out kinda awkwardly. We were all wondering what to do, but no fights broke out, ha! The guys I knew who were supposed to play bailed cuz they didn't want to face a grind audience - they lost out bigtime. Finally 2 amazing sax players started up called SOLARS, THAT was killer! I thought they totally held up and kept those of us who stayed pretty happy. I really liked the drummer. After that some noise started up and the zuckuss guys I was with got obnoxious and rude (YES THEY DID!) and bailed. I couldn't really wrap my head around the noise cuz it was long and slow.. I probably would have under other circumstances... the crowd seemed to love them, and yeah, there were a good group there. and that was our night of worlds colliding at the cobalt. please let me get to sleep now. - Tue, 24 Oct 2006 4:52am Edited: Tue, 24 Oct 2006 4:58am | ||
