Man am I glad I was able to get out to distort fest vancouver... Allthough I would have liked top see Vanguard play in Vic, but distort was amazing.
The sound equipment was great, the hall was perfect, although whoever was doing the securrity was a dick.

Day One
day one was great, one great band after anouther... Too band leper had tyo open there was almost no crowd for them, where as Limb From Limb, also local had a massive crowd, mainly cause of the timing that their set started. A couple of the out of town bands deserved better that way.
Trench War was also pretty decent, they did not match up to most trhe bands this day though, but they were good. Nice sound, just a bit more years so they have a better stage pressence and they will be great.
Masisin was one of the best bands I have seen yet, we could not believe how great they were. All the way from Cali to play for 30 people, that was shit. One of their members, the guitarist even had to jump the border, going through feilds, and bush, to get arround border patrole so he could get into the country. And i always have a soft spot for female fronted bands.
Heavy Artillery was a verry pleasant surprise, they were great. They didn't really seam to fit the bill, but they were so good it didn't matter, definately want to see them again.
Inhaste took forever to tune up, and spent more time tuning than playing, but when they did play, it was so tight and well written, probably one of the best sounding bands on the entire bill, deffinately the best on day one I thought. Inhaste is starting to live up to the shadow of Shitlist (their former band) which is not an easy thing to do. They were the highlight on the night for me.
Lebenden Totem was fucking loud. Seriousely fucking hurt my ears. Weird band, if you like disclose you might like them, but I think they were way too noisy for most people. They had turned oiff all the bass on their instruments and turned up the trebbel, tyuned them high, and had so much distortion it sounded like pure creachming static. and this was over massive feedback. High pitched female vox, and they apeared to be spasaming the entire time. Their guitaristy was great though, but fuck my ears were ringing so band and hurt after their set.
Hellshock was great, a nice change, and did not sound at all like every other band. It was also cool to see a band talk about their songs even if they didn't say much. Really by this time I was too tired to get as into them as I may have normalloy, topo many good bands brfore them.

Day Two
This day didn't even come close to day one, started off weird, with a bunch of bands that really didn't fit the bill. First was a stoner metal group called hacksaw. I really don't like most stoner metal... And they were no exception.
Then a weird power pop bands that sounded as bad as they looked, from edmonton called Lets Dance. They played fast and tight with lots of energy and stage performance, but I hate pop. They sounded like ramones on speed, so maybe others liked it, but from what I coud see it didn't go over well.
It is too bad iron lung and consume both had to cancell, I was looking foirward to them, and the replacements were not nearly as good.
Cobra, a metal band was up next, they were good, but way too metal for the show I though, others seamed to agree... seamed the only ones who were truly into it were the guys from onlslaught, who played next.
It is not often I leave durring a bands set, but onslaught was such cheasy hair metal that I could not take it, and I Like skidrow... even saw them live. Onslaught almost ruined the show for me.
Homewreckers were up nect, sean them many a times before as I am from, edmonton. They are always kinda fun, but street punk aint my thing, and I don't much care for the singers vox... I think the main selling point of this band is the looks, and thats sad. But they put on a decent show, almost no movement from the band except the singer and drummer.
Next up was the mistery band (I think) which turned out to be chuck norris. Love the guys vox, but the attitude they presented made me hate them. would have much rather seen consume.
Mass Grave was good as always, although I th8ink they were a bit better in the Ocean Ialsnd way back when they played vic with poseur disposer and mechanical separation. Still an enjoyabvle as always set from some really nice, really tall guys. As well they were the first crust band of the night...
When Born Dead whent up they made up for the shitty bands earlier, ad then some. They alone would have been worth the ticket price, and are now in the catagory of best bands I have ever sean, I would say second best (after conflict). If you ever have the chance to see these guys, take it, amazing bands, such good sound.
And last but deffinately not least was the Subhumans. They were amazing this night, making all kinds of jokes between songs, the energy of a bunch of 20 yr olds it seamed like. They looked old, but seamed to feel young, great to see. I had sean them before, and they will be back in vic soon, but they were 10X better than the last time I seen them, they were great. And their new music I thought seamed even tighter than thier old stuff. If there was any let downs with these guys it either that they had to end their set short cause of time, or that they had no music available at their merch tables. I would have liked to pick up some thing by them, but only shirts...

So Over all, great venue, great sound, great bands. Day one was way better line up than day two, hands down, and daY TOW WAS ONLY REALLY SAVED BY A COUPLE BANDS. Would have been nice to see more merch tables, there wasn't that much. Also would have been nicer if the local bands all opened and the out of towners got better crowds that they deserved instead of going third and shit but...

Overall the best bands were Born/Dead, Inhaste, Masisin, Heavy Artillery, Subhumans, Leper and Hellshok.
