The show was wicked!
Could of been a better turn out but all in all the bands played really well!

Rightsidedrive impressed everyone, but sicophelia absolutly WENT NUTS. I was so impressed. Mito was good as always, tugnut was alright, same with mechanical seperation.

Give sicophelia a month or two and they will be INSANE... same with rightside.

peace. - Fri, 29 Jul 2005 10:36pm

did we go to the same show...? haha.

Right Side Drive, I don't think "impressed everyone". I believe there were a handful of people really into them. They weren't my style but they definetely sounded tight and really into what they were playing. I hope the best for them.

Sicophelia, I heard earlier in the day based on a video they had with Lisa. I honestly think they sounded better with Lisa. They do have potential, again it's not really the type of stuff I get into. I noticed they had some problems playing stuff and technical issues. I agree that they'll be getting better.

Mito I liked less this time than before. Were the nail bracers a joke? I think they're good at what they do but I can only handle so much so I left halfway through.

I only saw a few bits of the last few bands. I mostly played on the fields outside then.

I don't leave many shows and I go to a lot of shows of various types. Tech metal interests me when it's cleaner and more articulate. The sort of sound of sludging distortion with no discernable qualities doesn't appeal to me too much, at least it didn't tonight. Sorry I can't offer more opinion on this. - Fri, 29 Jul 2005 11:35pm

Mechanical Seperation - Were great, I really enjoyed their set. My only complaint was that damn crust loser who just ran into people. Other than that, great fucking job!

Tugnut - So amazing... with dancing. Definitely a must see live band. The moshing was a bit more controlled for their set. Or maybe it just looked that way because Tugnut was more insane than the crowd. I liked how the bassist got right into the crowd and then climbed on top of his bass amp. AMAZING... with DANCING!!! Great musicianship too, I'm not a bird and shakers destroyed all.

For the people that didn't understand these 2 bands I feel sorry for you and your scenester posse. They were very articulate and maybe the reason the mix was a bit messy was because of the venue. Gyms usually don't have the best acoustics. That said, thank you to everyone who came out. - Sat, 30 Jul 2005 12:42am

Big Fernwood is echo-y with less than 200 people in it.

THANK YOU to all of the bands for playing tonight, especially the locals (Rightsidedrive, Sicophelia, Mitochondrion + Mechanical Seperation) for playing for free, which allowed me to cover Tugnut's ferry and not lose my shirt.

And thanks to everybody that came out to check the bands out tonight.

I was going to try to get the night off work for this but 2 of the girls I work with had some seriously horrible shit happen to them and I couldn't get anyone to cover me. I know Odin will never speak to me again (how can he when I'm dead, right?).

I highly doubt that the assholes who broke the fountain or left the dirty needle are reading these. Those kinds of people don't care about anything/anyone but themselves and it wouldn't get through to them anyway.

I'm glad that the people who did go enjoyed themselves, and if they didn't then they need to grow up and learn what having fun is all about. Not working a million nights in a row is a good starter. Oh wait - that's me. Fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun. - Sat, 30 Jul 2005 1:12am

Right Side Drive -Came late and caught a bit of them, couldn't really hear too much because the gym was echoey but they had a lot of energy.

Sicophelia -went for a pizza break

Mitochondrion -talented boys, the drumming was a bit iffy tonight but other than that, killer set. CHEESETITS!

Mechanical Seperation -out cleaning a million beer bottles and cans...

Tugnut -wow. they were sooo sweet, energy was amazing and drums sounded really really tight. ONE of the best bands i've seen on this island.

sorry bout the awful set . . . chalk that one up to not actually being a good band and playing in a horrible sounding venue.

the bracers were DEFINITELY not a joke!!! this is why emo and extreme metal should not be on teh same bill. - Sat, 30 Jul 2005 8:29am

We are not fucking emo! Ahck. FYI, that first post was a complete joke, that's what happens when you play terribly then go home and get drunk...
RSD - I thought they were pretty good, I liked it, I really liked Leo's scream despite him having bronchitus...
Sicophelia - We did pretty freakin' bad... A lot of mistakes, and the sound was pretty bad too... That's what happens when you play a show after 2 jams with your lead guitarist. Give us a month or so, and we should be decent (new name coming soon [thank god]).
Mitochondrion - I really like these guys, great people too, but I wasn't that into it last night... I was in and out of the venue for their set.
After that we left... Which I'm kinda sad that I did, I would've liked to see Tugnut. Weird techy shit definately interests me. - Sat, 30 Jul 2005 9:06am

right side drive sounded neat, lots of energy. My condolences go out to Matt, i'm sorry to hear shit got broken, and a dirty needle? thats fuckin lame, then again it's fernwood. I saw right side drive - they were good, Us (Sicophelia) - we really sucked, i know it's not Matt's fault but those monitors do way more bad than good, can't hear anything think they were blown. Mito seemed like they were good, i was doing smoke machine until it broke down, i couldn't hear much from where i was. I would like to see more underground heavy shows more often, it's a great idea. - Sat, 30 Jul 2005 1:44pm

Right side drive: I would be willing to see you guys again. I know some of you may be disheartened by opinions of people but keep in mind the other bands that played. You just need to find your niche, it's not like you suck at what you do at all. You're good at the sound you're trying to achieve and energy, it's just not something that directly appeals to me. - Sat, 30 Jul 2005 11:34pm

GOD we sucked... seriously. Haha, but we will hoepfully get some better shit down and make it up to everyone in the near future by playing some way better shows...

Rightside and Mito are the only two groups i can comment on... rightsidedrive is a rippin' group, they had so much fucking energy, I love these guys... Mito is also pretty insain... some good guys in that group, tho it is not at all my type of music. I agree with shawn when he said screaming music shouldent be combined with grind, whatever tho, playing a show with mito was cool i guess. Emo tho? lol, thats funny. im out. - Sun, 31 Jul 2005 12:52am

Speaking of theset, i've heard they have some rather uncouth things to say about minorities. You didn't hear from me that a certain guitarist in that band reads and follows Mein Kampf like it's a bible. - Sun, 31 Jul 2005 2:15pm
