| Events User Info... | BLACK EYED PEAS WITH SPECIAL GUESTS TALIB KWELI AND JULLY BLACK FRIDAY, JULY 22ND DEER LAKE PARK BURNABY, B.C. DOORS 6:00 PM SHOW 7:00 PM Jully Black's is a name that will soon be on everybody's lips. Her debut, This is Me (scheduled for release on June 21st), is an album of sultry soul laced with hip-hop, pop, reggae and dub that showcases not only her immediately identifiable voice but her songwriting talents (she's also written for Destiny's Child and Nas) as well. Jully, opening for Black Eyed Peas on their current tour, has also appeared in the Mirvish Theatre production of "Da Kink in My Hair", where she's displayed her talent for dancing and acting as well as singing. Jully has also shown her commitment to expanding her social consciousness with a visit to Bangladesh. Early in her career, she was first noticed for her raspy, soul-stirring voice by Toronto rappers like Choclair, Kardinal Offishall and Baby Blue Soundcrew, who asked Jully to sing and write on their singles. Her understanding of song structure, melody and expressive lyrics led to a publishing deal, at the age of 20, with Warner/Chappell Music. She continued to release her own songs like the top 40 hit "Rally'n'," "You've Changed" (from the Brown Sugar soundtrack) and "I Travelled" (which appears on Women and Songs 7). Along the way, she's picked up four Juno nominations, four MuchMusic Video Award nominations and has been named one of the most alluring Canadians by Fashion Magazine. But this is just the beginning for Jully Black, who finally comes into her own with the release of This is Me. Don't miss Jully Black when she opens the show for the Black Eyed Peas live at Deer Lake Park on Friday, July 22nd with special guest Talib Kweli.
