| bsxjen User Info... | I managed to drag myself outta the house on a Tuesday night to go to the show. There was almost no-one at the show at all. Coulda had something to do with the rain, or it being Tuesday, I dunno.Apostacy opened shit up, playing to about 10 people. Pretty good set, not as tight as the one I saw the night before but still very enjoyable. Here's hoping that I get to see them more. The Hollow looked super promising, but once they started their set I came to the quick realization that they were not for me. Their first song sounded like Metallica and the rest seemed to be fairly heavy Tool/Perfect Circle influenced. Not really my thing at all, but the 20 or so people that they were playing for seemed to have fun so i guess that's all that counts. Goathorn headlined and holy fucking shit they blew me away! Straight up old school metal, complete with long hair, tight pants, bullet belts and high pitched wails. Fuck these guys impressed me from the second they stepped on stage and kept it up the whole set. They deserved a much better turn out than they got, but they did get me pumped for the M�tley II show tomorrow night! whoo whoo - Thu, 26 Aug 2004 8:54am | ||

| Gato Negro 13 User Info... | Yeah nobody went to that show.I didn't see Apostacy the night before but I thought they were great that night. The vocals have the same blistering and biting quality of Blaine from the Accused or Mike Dean from early COC. The music had a heavy Slayer influence with some wild kerry king whammy bar solos and shit. Very cool band. The Hollow sucked. They seemed like a put together band instead of friends forming a band, that turns me off instantaniously. They did indeed sound like all of the afore mentioned bands, none of which I like. I heard them talking to strangers about the major label interest they were getting all night. With the garbage the music industry is feeding us these days it seemed about right.Unfortunately, The Hollow sucked the life right out of me and I only heard a couple of goat horn songs. The fact that their logo was a pentegram with a goat in it missing a horn was funny as shit. They were definately a throw back to old metal alright. The belts were a nice touch. They seemed pretty cool. All in all a fun night, with, in my opinion, local jag-offs Apostocy showing the most promise and heart, by far. The naked guy drank for free. I've got a feeling that getting naked at Lucky Bar is going to catch on with the crusty punx.....and then the people will finally get a deeper understanding of the moniker "crusty" punx. - Fri, 27 Aug 2004 8:57am | ||
