My neck and voice are in bad shape today - an AMAZING show and great night for everyone!
I missed the first band, but heard they were "really good".
I've seen Lazarus A.D. before and I think I like them. There were a few mis-steps, which made it clear why they're openers, but its a big deal opening for bands like that, and they probably deserve it. Crowd was going off early, and thats a big accomplishment to their credit. But whats with letting people who don't have a clue just stand up on stage with you? Annoying as all hell.
I didn't like Evile so I kept going outside (either choke on smoke outside or suck back steam in - fresh air seemed hard to come by all night). And they might have been the band that used it (for 1 song), but there's this certain guitar tone that I know a local band uses a lot which I really hate... I hope it doesn't become a fad. Its super cheesy & synthetic sounding.

Kataklysm though, were everything and more - we were all ecstatic. A bunch of my favorite metalheads were out for this and we didn't stop roaring, practically all the way home. They were bitching about them not playing the old songs they wanted, but boohoo. I might have liked to have gone up close to watch those brilliant drums & guitars, but sightlines from back near the board weren't bad at all and no one was too obnoxious.
But seriously kids, if the diameter of your hair-whips is over 3 feet in a crowd, you're eventually going to get punched in the head. Some of us hold our hair back so as to avoid that happening. And I don't even get windmills - are you even listening?

Always funny seeing these bands trying to get Vancouver audiences up and active. I think our crowds are doing pretty good these days - you just can't compare apples and oranges!

Kreator were inspiring. I knew they'd kept it up, but when a band's been around that long you'd think their intensity would have waned a bit. Sooo exillerating to hear THAT voice & guitar parts, and THOSE drums live... its like your entire life spent listening to music all comes together in those moments.

I can't believe so many people I knew missed this show... what a mistake!

Finally, THE INVISIBLE ORANGE! I just can't say enough about them. Personally & professionally, they're just the most straight up, awesome metalheads you'll ever meet - no bullshit or pretention. So proud & happy to have them putting on these great shows - it makes supporting & attending a no-brainer, every step of the way.
