THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED: hugo chavez and the coup

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5832390545689805144&q=chavez+televised

The documentary, in case you were wondering, is on the coup that sought to overthrow Hugo Chavez as rightful president of Venezuela in the year two thousand and something. It's one of the most unique things you're ever likely to see, I really hope that if you have a spare hour or so (and a fast connection) that you spend it watching this documentary. Believe me it will have you amazed.

JUL 11- A few years ago I saw a documentary which I didn't forget, I'm sure that I mentioned it on this site that same night, I'm sure it's in the archives somewhere! It's the one documentary that I always remember to mention to people because it crystalises so much hypocrisy and opportunism live on camera, and at the same time it's so empowering. You can feel the love and you can logically see the greed. The reason I'm mentioning it again is that I've (very gladly) found it on the internet. It doesn't suprise me that such an important documentary has been made available free of charge, it seems in keeping with the spirit of the film-makers. The truth is, I was trying to get the DVD myself a year or so ago but no-one would release it, I even signed a petition! (this was some time ago though, it may be out by now I don't know)...

That's all. I'm so happy that I'm able to share something so substantial through the internet. Viva l'internet. Please check back in a day or so as I have another review for you (it's already written of course, but this update has to take precedence!) And in case you're wondering, not only did I see that documentary when it was on television, I also watched it again tonight, without hitting fast forward one single time. I also ate a bowl of rice, half a roast chicken and a red "tomato" fruit, which means I'm fortunate.

Peace to all,
Y.

A good post man! Insightful.
I would tend to say that he is no saviour of Venezuela though, Mr Chavez's "revolution" has little real impact on the lives of ordinary Venezuelans, who still suffer from chronic poverty and widespread unemployment despite the country's oil wealth.

His popularity rating had fallen from a high of 80% to 30% last December, when the first mass street protests erupted.

While he may have the right intentions (I am sure oil has nothing to do with it) they are lost in transaction....oil money and revolution...they never mix well. - Sun, 16 Jul 2006 9:53pm Edited: Sun, 16 Jul 2006 9:53pm
