I think this is a bunch of crap personally. Who cares if he gambles or if his wife does for that matter, the media just likes to dog at any chance they can get.
I am from Brantford originally and used to work at a restaruant Wayne once owned called "21 the supper club", he is a great guy who doesn't deserve to be dogged like this by the media. I don't see what is wrong with gambling legal or otherwise, especially if you have the cake to do it, its really only recreation when your that loaded, and who is it hurting? Screw the media! - Fri, 10 Feb 2006 9:52am

The media would love this scandal to grow and include hockey management betting on hockey and (potentially) blowing games based on wagers, etc. Thats the big so-called 'moral' issue surrounding it. (Think early 20th century Black Sox) There is no evidence of that yet in this case.

The NHL is worried anytime something threatens to turn hockey into, say, boxing (known for wager-related corruption).

I think Wayne is smart enough to have stayed out of the nuts and bolts of this conspiracy; Hopefully he remains as clean. Janet, on the other hand has always stuck me as a las-vegas baby. No surprise for me there.

I'm not surprised by any of whats been rumoured, but like you, I don't see what the fuck is so important about it.

As far as betting in general, well the only crime really is the government doesn't get their cut of the proceeds. Thats it.
.
Regardless of our thoughts on the topic, I think this whole issue is going to overshadow any olympic success to some degree. It depends on how vocal the Italian Papparazzi is on the topic.

I'll put 50 on Canada to win Silver.

Neither Wayner nor Janet are being charged. Wayne had nothing to do with it, and Janet only bet and didn't have anything to do with the operation. Apparently under New Jersey law, it's not illegal to bet, even through a bookie, but it's illegal to take bets on behalf of another person cuz you can make money off another person's bets. I did not know that. - Thu, 16 Feb 2006 1:02pm

Not caring is what got Rick Tocchet into this mess in the first place.
