It has something to do with the amount of mp3 hits recently from different ip's, I'm not totally sure what the exact method of figuring out they use is. It's the CBC, so it's convoluted. As far as local bands, i think i remember seeing ghosts charting in the overall top 5 (all genres). I think frog eyes was number one in alt rock or alt pop.
