| SublimeKid User Info... | I'm debating between the Presonus Firepod, Echo Layla, and M-Audio Delta and I'm pretty much ready to purchase because I just got my new computer. Firepod comes with the 8 pre's built in and I have seen about 95% good feedback over it in various audiophile forums. Anyone have any feedback on the Firepod or other interfaces like MOTU or something I've never really looked into...budget for card is under 1000$ Thanks, Landon - Thu, 5 May 2005 12:54pm | ||
| Gman User Info... | I've owned both Delta 66 and Delta 10/10 and while neither have built-in preamps, they run flawlessly, have never crashed, and provide *excellent* sound quality due to the high quality DA/AD converters. I've not used a Layla, but hear that they are excellent as well. I'm not at all familiar with the Firepod, but would hope that the pre-amps are good quality and are not housed in the computer itself as I would expect that to be quite noisy. - Fri, 6 May 2005 10:08am | ||
| myke User Info... | I've had my Firepod for about 5 months and i have no complaints. The pre's are clean, quiet and have a decent amount of gain. They don't sound "expensive" but they do the job quite well. The unit itself is stable and easy to set up. I'm not a big fan of M-Audio products, especially thier drivers. If you don't need the pre's you should check out the MOTU 828mkII as well. - Fri, 6 May 2005 3:58pm | ||
| Gman User Info... | "I'm not a big fan of M-Audio products, especially thier drivers." ? - I've used the MME, ASIO, and GSIF (GigaSampler) Audio drivers with no issues whatsoever. With the GSIF drivers, I was able to get under 5ms latencies playing HUGE piano samples with 64 note polyphony. Never had a problem with MIDI or SPDIF either. (no, I don't work for MAudio) - Fri, 6 May 2005 4:13pm | ||
| Brumy User Info... | M-AUDIO DELTA1010LT Its amazing, i put it in my computer, ran protracks off it, and it was 100% better sounding than it was befor! Its defently worth it. Even better if you get protools with it and a mackie onyx 1640 and get them all working together..thats a perfect recording studio.(mini) thats what im planning on getting The delta1010LT is a great vaule...its worth 300$ and better than anything else you cna get. - Mon, 9 May 2005 4:25pm | ||
| canon.docre User Info... | yeah the delta 1010 gave me some latency problems for playback/recording at the same time, the guitarist was wigging out about a delay of what he was playing to what was coming thru the headphones. probably just a setup issue on my part. - Wed, 11 May 2005 7:09pm | ||
| Gman User Info... | Whoa, a little late getting back to this. It sounds like you were monitoring through the software you were using. Unless you have an extremely fast computer, you'll get latency with any sound card going this route. The Delta 1010 supports direct monitoring - that is, you can set it up so all/some/one of the inputs are routed directly to any of the outputs. You can then send that to a headphone mixer for next to zero latency monitoring. Of course, I've owned the thing for 4 years now and kinda take it for granted. In the long run, it's best to go with what works for you, not what works for other folks. - Tue, 17 May 2005 4:13pm | ||
