| Anonymous | community radio is usually all we have and what gives almost all, ALL bands thier first exposure. always support local community radio. it's really really important. the one thing campus stations could do is follow the consistency of commercial programming, without piling on all the other commercial malarkey. CFUV should put out, syndicate, and distro a series of CD compilations of each of Vic's musical epochs. it's not hard to do and with proper budgeting, could be done very very inexpesnively. - Thu, 27 Mar 2003 5:22pm | ||

| The Provider User Info... | We really need just one half ass decent radio station. Yeah, yeah the community radio stations help out bands in a small way, but where is all the good music? There is not even one radio station out there that you can listen to and enjoy 1 in 10 songs. Well except for the classic rock stations, but how many times can you hear Bohemian Rhapsody? When is the last time someone here heard even the most common metal songs on the radio? | Ty Stranglehold User Info... | I've spent time with both community and commercial radio stations in Victoria. In the end, both gave me the freedom to program a punk show the way I thought it should be(lots of lesser knowns and local bands) and both were run by self serving backstabbers... | Anonymous | we have untalented dj's in this town. look at the zone. they have that paul brown guy who sounds like he's on downers. they have some stupid bubbly chik who has new music updates in the afternoon that are well... not new music.(some of us have MTV.... we heard it all last summer thanks) And they play way to much pop punk, i don't much against pop punk but where were you when we wanted a local station to play green day,pavement and fugagzi. - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 12:10pm | ||

I work at CFUV 101.9fm, I host a friday night show 9-10:30 pm. I think Cfuv would be interested in doing something like that. | here's my piece. | With regards to the idea of a cd compilation- CFUV attempted that back in the day and it failed so miserably that there are practically restraints barring anybody else from doing so ever again. I believe that legal action was threatened etc etc. The fact is people don't buy compilation cd's- they end up in pawn shops being sold for a couple of dollars. I don't really look to radio to consistently play good music. Commercial radio stations' sole purpose is to make money and that doesn't leave a whole lot of room (ie: any room whatsoever) for underground or independent artists. Everybody obviously realises this fact. If you want music tailored to your tastes, brush up on your cd collection. We should count ourselves lucky to even have CFUV at all. The areas in which CFUV lacks strength are made up for by the extremely diverse programming. - Tue, 1 Apr 2003 2:07pm | ||

| jay brown User Info... | Offbeat magazine was one of the most biast one sided pieces of junk I've ever read. Personally I howled when I read that it was done, I even cut out the article and put it on my fridge. cfuv is quite possibly the best local radio we have and even it sucks. It is nice to get to listen to a station that doesnt just cater to top forty, or classic rock. At the same time there are an awful lot of shows on there that are just straight up garbage. I think your best bet if you can get it is to tune in citr over in van, or cbc, brave new waves is a great show. The zone does support a lot of local stuff, but their playlist is total crap for the most part. - Tue, 1 Apr 2003 6:54pm | ||
