Does anyone have any experience with this unit? I am thinking about purchasing this unit for doing some scratch tracks. Any other suggestions? I am looking for something that I can use to record a 4 piece band, live off the floor type recording. I would like something that will be more than I need right now, I like a challenge, and that will be fairly powerful. I am planning on running Pro Tools 8 LE.

Any Help is appreciated.

as far as i remember that thing doesn't have many inputs. 4 or 8. That would be fairly shitty to try and get a decent drum kit mic'd then get 1 or 2 guitars a bass and a single vocalist all mic'd for live use. Depending on your budget i'd say go for the mackie 1640i. its got 16 mic pre's. sounds good. a little expensive though. 1800 bucks i think. - Mon, 21 Jun 2010 10:33am

digi003+ has 8 mic pres. I like mine.. for what I do its more than enough.

can you run ptle8.x with a mackie interface?..

and for scratch tracks I find 8 enough (barely) sometimes I use a mixer to add a few channels. - Wed, 23 Jun 2010 8:09am

From what I have read you can only use it with the PT M-powered. - Wed, 23 Jun 2010 10:45am

Do you know of anything that will work with PT to get me more than 8? - Wed, 23 Jun 2010 10:46am

mackie has a pro tools driver but it costs more and i'm fairly sure it's only for LE. - Wed, 23 Jun 2010 2:27pm

Why do you need more than 8? CI24? - Wed, 23 Jun 2010 8:02pm

I would like more than 8 for the live off the floor type recordings. It looks like a lot of the presonus types can be daisy chained via firewire or lightpipe, maybe something like that? - Thu, 24 Jun 2010 7:55am
