Founded in 1996 and based in Berlin, World Brass (Weltblech) consists of thirteen musicians from a variety of countries including Belgium, Hungary, the UK, Norway, Australia, and Canada.
In establishing World Brass, the musicians, who were all members of the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, sought to continue in the tradition of the World Orchestra and work on repertoire with musicians from all over the globe in order to present musical works at a world-class level.
Their repertoire touches on all areas of the musical world, ranging von festlich bis fetzig which roughly translates as from festive to funky. They aim to entertain their audience and at the same time demonstrate the ensemble's many strengths - from the more serious to the most crazy. They dare to tread the thin line between musical seriousness and wit, without falling into the trap of virtuoso vanity or giving in to the kind of deadly seriousness which can be associated with classical music.
Their New Years concert is sure to have scared off even the worst of
hangovers....One cannot help being amazed by their technical agility, the nimble notes of the tuba, the crazy heights of the gymnastic trumpets...the delighted audience shrieked for encores...from this ensemble which seems capable of just about anything.

... they belong, without doubt, to the world's best in their genre...
Speyerer Tagespost
Just like the motto of their first CD "from festive to funky," the thirteen musicians demonstrate not only that they can play brilliantly, but also that they can entertain.
