Tommy Banks

Tommy Banks has been a part of the Canadian entertainment scene for many years and has recently been honored by the City of Edmonton renaming of the street that fronts the Yardbird Suite as �Tommy Banks Way.�

As a conductor and pianist, Tommy has accompanied jazz legends Aretha Franklin to Mel Torme, Nat Adderly, and Pepper Adams. One of Tommy�s crowning achievements was leading the Tommy Banks Band with �Big� Miller that was touted as the best big band at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Tommy has been the recipient of a Juno Award, a Gemini Award and is an Officer of the Order of Canada. The Globe and Mail has said, "Tommy Banks has done so many other things in music, it's easy to overlook the fact that he plays damn fine jazz piano."
