HEADLINER: Hip Hip Thursday
Hip Hip Thursday formed organically as a cooperative of six musicians who became friends at the weekly jam nights and open mics. The resulting project maintained the collaborative energy that brought them together - a fusion of genres that created a unique soundscape.
Hip Hip Thursday works to honour the traditions of jazz and hip-hop, while charting new creative territories with influences of funk, indie, and rock. HHT’s music is not just about sound but about storytelling, emotion, and connection to important events and realities of the world around us.
Hip Hip has had the honour of playing numerous local festivals - Calgary's Sled Island Festival, East Town Get Down, the King Eddy CIBC Summer series, Calgary Music's SoundOff Summit Showcase, and the Calgary International Film Festival block party. They have been featured on CBC Radio 1 Calgary's Eye Opener, Arts Commons’ TD Incubator program, along with several other shows all across the prairies.
Recently, Hip Hip Thursday worked with award winning producer and artist Dempsey Bolton on their new single release “Tippy Tappy La La,” which highlights the group’s playful energy, versatility, and vibrant vocals.
SUPPORT ACTS
Peri DeMarchi
Peri DeMarchi is a multi-instrumentalist and old-soul rocker from Fernie, B.C., whose passion for 70s legends like The Beatles, Queen, and Roy Orbison is matched only by her raw talent and relentless curiosity. Though just fourteen, Peri plays nearly every instrument she can get her hands on, often spending hours in “The Basement” perfecting solos and creating full tracks on her own. Self-taught and deeply expressive, she’s already shared the stage with seasoned musicians, drawing praise for both her technical skill and rare emotional feel. Peri isn’t chasing fame—she’s chasing the music, wherever it leads. She was the winner of Fischer Peak Performing Arts Society's NEXT PLAY Youth Performance Competition.
DJ Shallot
Fernie-based Dan Bruxer, better known as DJ Shallot, began his DJ journey four years ago. A self-proclaimed Fernie local, Dan is known for creating sets that blend laid-back ambient house, groovy dance tracks, and nostalgic remixes of classic pop songs with modern energy. The name “Shallot” is inspired by the vegetable and reflects Dan’s creativity. A shallot may seem simple, but it is layered, adds depth, balance, and character to every dish — qualities Dan aims to bring to his music through layered sounds, familiar melodies, and energetic, feel-good sets.
