This year's Workshop Series kicks off with a true OG of our festival, and one of the most recognizable voices in the global ska scene, the extraordinary Dr. Ring-Ding. It's been more than 20 years since Dr. Ring-Ding laid down his unforgettable debut performance at our festival in 2004, way back when we were still known as Victoria Ska Festival. A true protector and lover of Jamaican musical culture, Dr. Ring-Ding is a towering figure in the European ska, dancehall and two-tones scenes for over a quarter-century. Come down to the Open Studios as this microphone giant sits down with our own Sean 'Flynch' Behnsen for a discussion touching on, among other things, Dr. Ring-Ding's legendary career, the global influence of ska and maybe an old Ska Fest memory or two.
