Event Description
In this UVic School of Music alumni showcase, “piano virtuoso and avant-garde muse” Rachel Kiyo Iwaasa returns to her Alma Mater to perform works by fellow UVic alumni Rodney Sharman, Linda Catlin Smith and Kristy Farkas, as well as by Victoria native Jennifer Butler.
The recital takes its name from Iwaasa’s critically acclaimed 2024 album, Known and Unknown: Solo piano works by Rodney Sharman. Sharman’s work is known for its surreptitious virtuosity and frank but sensitive treatment of LGBTQ+ themes.
