Event Description

Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers Bowker Creek at 9pm, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door, Everyone welcome!

Started in 2009, Bowker Creek plays unique arrangements of familiar tunes and hidden gems from a wide range of musical genres, including country, rock, old time and swing. Based in Victoria, the band has played all over Vancouver Island from Sooke to Sayward and most places in between, at festivals, folk clubs, summer markets, wineries and private functions.
Kathy Broder on vocals and guitar, has a powerful and dynamic voice that she uses to great effect whether singing intimate ballads, country, swing or the blues.
John Cornes on bass and vocals, has played both electric and stand-up bass since his teen years, gainng a wealth of experience in all genres of music
Bruce Kerr on dobro, guitar and vocals, has played professionally on guitar and pedal steel with various rock and country bands in eastern Canada.
Dan Ready on mandolin and guitars, has been performing in bands since he was 15, including folk, blues, rock, fusion, and acoustic bands

Together they are Bowker Creek and you don’t want to miss their return to the VFMS stage!
