Event Description

Melos Choir & Period Instruments, under the artistic direction of Holly Gwynne-Timothy, presents “Of Darkening Days & Beckoning Stars” at St. John the Apostle Church in Kingston, with special guests Patricia O’Callaghan and Peter Aston.

The concert will feature seasonal music and poetry from the 9th to 21st Centuries, and will include works by D’Orleans, Shakespeare, Blind, Campion, Lassus, Bach, and more. Read the full program here. The concert will also be available to watch online from 6 to 16 December.

Advance tickets for the in-person presentation are $25 each, and tickets for the virtual performance are $15 each. Both are available to available to purchase online here. About Of Darkening Days & Beckoning Stars


Melos welcomes Patricia O’Callaghan, soprano, in an exploration of music and poetry from colder climes, on winter’s darkness, challenges and beauty. With Patricia’s stunning voice highlighting the works, Melos Choir & Period Instruments will perform traditional songs and carols of Wales, Ireland and Sweden; contemporary settings of wintry words by Claude Debussy and Dennis Lee; Lassus’ “Videntes Stellam”; and excerpts from Bach’s BWV 182, “Himmelskönig, sei willkommen”; and Vivaldi’s “Seasons”. With poetry readings and narration by Peter Aston.
