Okay, snap quiz: what's a quincunx? You may not recognize the term, but you've likely seen one many times. Think of the face of a die - one dot in each corner, and one in the middle. Andre Alexis, the celebrated Canadian writer, has imaginatively applied the name to a series of five novels that stand as a landmark in Canadian Literature. Fifteen Dogs was hugely popular and won the Giller Prize. The jury exalted: “It’s a novel filled with balancing acts: humour juxtaposed with savagery, solitude with the desperate need to be part of a pack, perceptive prose interspersed with playful poetry. A wonderful and original piece of writing that challenges the reader to examine their own existence and recall the age-old question, what’s the meaning of life?”. Andre Alexis will join us to talk about his final contribution to the quincunx: Ring.
