Music is with us through all of our best, and most painful experiences so it’s no surprise that Dawn Dumont, Glenn Dixon, and Mark Anthony Jarman have written novels where music is central to the narrative. In The Prairie Chicken Dance Tour, comedian Dawn Dumont’s razor-sharp wit is on display as a motley crew of Indigenous amateur dancers find themselves together on a European tour. Master short story writer (and blues musician) Mark Anthony Jarman’s Czech Techno is a tour of the world via a short story mix-tape. Glenn Dixon plays guitar in a Calgary band that has recorded under the moniker Downtown Exit, the name of the successful band of misfits featured in his debut novel (with accompanying soundtrack) Bootleg Stardust. In this event, we'll learn more about how these authors approached the writing of their latest books and talk about their literary and musical influences.
