Event Description

The Victoria Conservatory of Music’s voice department proudly presents Opera Studio Duets: Passion vs. Compassion; a collection of duets performed by advanced voice students.
In response to the pandemic, Opera Studio has ventured into new territory this year, creating a video production of performances by six talented students: Anna Bigland-Pritchard, Galen Boulanger, Alex Chen, Alana Hayes, Gina Johnson, and Jennifer Turner. They are accompanied and coached by Kimberley-Ann Bartczak (music director), with stage and video direction by Alison Greene. Ingrid Attrot, the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s Head of Voice, will host the online event.
The duets represent a wide range of repertoire: W.A. Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Così fan tutte, G. Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, V. Bellini’s Norma, R. Strauss’s Arabella, and finally L. Kaminski’s contemporary chamber opera As One. Opera Studio Duets offer a glimpse at relationships involving passion and compassion, and much more, including exploring a variety of emotions.
The Opera Studio Duets music video production is our virtual gift to you in celebration of the 2021 Mother’s Day Musical Virtual Garden Tour and will premiere on YouTube on Sunday, May 9th at 4:00pm PDT.
