The opening concert of the UVic Wind Symphony’s 2019/20 season brings together works about the people and places that have influenced and inspired wind band composers Cait Nishimura, Percy Grainger, Jodie Blackshaw and John Mackey.
The UVic Wind Symphony, conducted by Steven Capaldo, is recognized as one of the premier performing wind ensembles in the Pacific Northwest. The Wind Symphony regularly features student, faculty and guest solo artists, collaborates annually with the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, and has given numerous Canadian and world premieres of contemporary works.
