- Cutting-edge saxophonist/improviser/composer Mats Gustafsson is at the forefront of international improv, noise, contemporary rock, and free jazz scenes. Whether through his enveloping, fire-breathing solo shows, longtime projects like The Thing,Fire!, or collaborations with a who’s who of experimenters such as Sonic Youth, Merzbow, Jim O´Rourke, Otomo Yoshihide, and Peter Brötzmann, the Swedish-born innovator is a broad-ranging creative powerhouse -
Over 1800 concerts and over 200 record productions in Europe, Australia, Africa, North & South America and Asia.
Collaborations with contemporary dance, theatre, art, poetry as well as projects with noise, electronica, contemporary rock and free jazz.

DROUIN/OLSEN is an avant-garde sound project focused on quiet volumes, silence, and the interaction of delicate, improvised sounds drawn from amplified gestures and electrical tones. A collaboration started in 2001 between Victoria, BC artists Jamie Drouin and Lance Austin Olsen, DROUIN/OLSEN is widely respected by international audiences and music reviewers.
