An Evening with Ron Norman and Keith Ogilvie May 11, 2018
The Sidney & Peninsula Literary Festival Society and Tanner’s Books cohost their final reading of the Spring Reading Series on May 11, 2018.
In Ron Norman’s debut book, Slouching Towards Innocence, Malcolm Bidwell has just been hired by mistake by newly elected Premier Steven Davis as his “go-to guy” for cleaning up political messes of which there are plenty. Set in the quirky, combative, and darkly comic world of British Columbia politics, it’s a story of politics, love and life.
Keith Ogilvie’s book features Keith “Skeets” Ogilvie who has been rejected by the Royal Canadian Air Force and joins the British Royal Air Force instead. The Spitfire Luck of Skeets Ogilvie is the story of an ordinary man who beat incredible odds on the frontlines, and the remarkable woman with whom he was reunited at the end of the War.
Ron Norman has been a reporter, columnist and editor of community newspapers and a contributor to CBC Radio’s Kelowna morning program. He left journalism in 2000 to take a job with the B.C. government. He worked at every level, eventually becoming deputy minister and head of communications.
Keith Ogilvie is a former private pilot, sailor and motorcycle enthusiast. He continues to be involved in international development, including as a member of the Board of the BC Justice Evaluation Society. He lives, writes and does a lot of walking with his partner Francine in North Saanich.
