"Occupy the Farm" is a powerful, riveting film that tells the story of 200 urban farmers who take over a publicly owned research farm in protest. The cameras follow the story for the next five months. We witness the dramatic and rapid evolution of the tactics and strategies of both the farmers and their adversaries the officials from UC Berkeley.
Ticket includes complimentary popcorn, some savoury bites and a facilitated discussion after the film addressing the two main topics, advocacy/activism and preserving farmland. Additional homemade, local-ingredient inspired savoury and sweet offerings as well as local wines and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase (cash only please).
The Festival continues November 3-5 at VIU Cowichan Campus, screening 17 more documentaries, all shown in the Lecture Theatre. For film descriptions and information, visit our website, www.cowichanvalleyfilm.ca.
