Event Description

A dynamic and emotional jazz vocalist steeped in blues, soul, and gospel, GREGORY PORTER is “…a jazz singer of thrilling presence, a booming baritone with a gift for earthy refinement and soaring uplift” (New York Times). Possessing an innate gift for melody and songwriting, he has penned most of the jazz and soul-oriented material appearing on his first three albums: the Grammy-nominated Water, Be Good, and Liquid Spirit, which won the Grammy Award for “Best Jazz Vocal Album” in 2014.

Porter is a big-voiced, big-hearted, and charismatic singer whose energetic live performances continue to wow audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. The recipient of the 2016 Jazz FM “Impact Award”, he will be making his Victoria debut in support of a brand new album of original material to be released through the iconic Blue Note Records label in April.
