Event Description

Cellist Peggy Lee’s diverse credits include new music ensemble Standing Wave, the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and appearances with trumpeter Dave Douglas, multi-reeds player François Houle and pianist Paul Plimley. Hailed as a talent deserving wider recognition by DownBeat, she is one of Canada’s finest musicians. Since 1998, she has led a group which plays her own compositions. Membership in the Peggy Lee Band reads like a who’s who of Vancouver musical talent, including Ron Samworth, guitar, Brad Turner, trumpet, Jeremy Berkman, trombone, Chris Tarry, bass and Dylan van der Schyff, drums. The band’s concerts are beautiful, unpredictable, fresh and exciting, exploring many musical genres while walking the line between melody and abstraction.
