David Vest is the real thing. His irresistibly toe-tapping boogie woogie piano style bubbles up from his experiences. Born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in juke joints all along the Gulf Coast, he has played with Big Joe Turner, Lavelle White and was co-leader of the legendary Paul de Lay Band. After moving north of the 49th parallel, he entered the Western Canadian blues scene like a piano falling out of the sky with incendiary performances at the Edmonton and Calgary Blues festivals. David was a nominee for Piano Player of the Year at the 2012 Maple Blues Awards. Says CBC Radio’s Holger Peterson “..a huge blues and boogie talent”.
