Event Description
Tragicomedia, a quartet comprising four of the world's leading Baroque instrumentalists, presents a perfect concert to welcome Spring's arrival!
Capritio originally meant the frolicking of young goats, and this image perfectly suits the energy of 17th century music. This brilliant quartet brings us music from sunny Italy -- some of the most attractive and playful instrumental repertoire of the Baroque - with works by Scarlatti, Vitali, Rossi, Matteis, Pasquini and others.
The players are:
Paul O'Dette (lute, guitar, mandolin)
Stephen Stubbs (guitar, chitarrone)
Erin Headley (viola da gamba, lirone)
Alexander Weimann (harpsichord)
"Sublime! Tragicomedia play with such agile dexterity that your concept of seventeenth-century music will be irrevocably changed."
