Gust Burns performs a concert on newly built instruments created during his Open Space residency, Piano De/Re-Constructed.
During his residency at Open Space, Gust will deconstruct an abandoned piano, piece-by-piece, reassembling some parts into a unique instrument and organizing other parts into a gallery installation.
Gust will launch his residency with a performance on the piano, prior to its deconstruction, on Monday, March 1 at 7:30pm. Throughout the week, you are encouraged to visit Open Space to observe Gust’s unique approach to physical and musical material as he disassembles the piano and re-arranges its parts. He will hold a demonstration and improvisation workshop on Saturday, March 6 followed by an evening performance using the newly created instruments.
Gust Burns will be performing as part of the Open Space Piano Series Between the Notes. Other performers include Lubomyr Melnyk on Saturday February 27, 8 p.m. and Tzenka Dianova, performing Thursday February 25, 8 p.m, both at Alix Goolden Hall. A pass for all four concerts can be purchased for $35 and for members, $30.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
