Event Description

The VCC School of Music presents 3 great small ensembles in their final concert of the season.
The Roots Ensemble, directed by John Reischman, is an all acoustic group featuring mandolins, guitars, and string bass. They perform Brazilian choros and Venezuelan waltzes, interpretations of jazz standards by Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins, and modern classics from new acoustic pioneers David Grisman and Andy Statman.


The Classic Jazz Ensemble, directed by David Branter, is playing the music of jazz great Charles Mingus this year, and they're loving it! Come and hear tight ensemble work and hip arrangements with fiery solos.


VCC's high energy Short Fuse band, directed by Laurence Mollerup, plays new material including music by Adam Rogers, Ralph Alessi, Chris Potter, Pat Metheny and Mike Stern. Hearing their cutting edge mix of influences will ignite your evening!
