Donizetti provides our season opener, with one of the most soaring and sublimely beautiful operas in the entire Italian canon. LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR evokes every emotion with its combination of high-flying lyric passages, ecstatic duets, and glorious ensembles that are masterpieces of musical invention and virtuosity. Thrill to the powerful Act II sextet and be moved to the edge of your seat for opera's most famous mad scene, where unbreakable heartbreak is expressed through an outpouring of ornate vocal fireworks.
