Don't know whether Canada's vaccines are the same,
but Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was on The Joe Scarborough Show not long ago talking about his research into Autism and children's vaccinations. If you have small children or grandchildren, please watch this and do you own follow-up research.

And please pass this on.

The White House won't protect them,
the Congress won't protect them, your
doctor won't protect them.

If you have small children in your
life, you must protect them.

Start with this video:

The interview is nine months old, but
few saw it and then the issue "disappeared."

If you don't tell you friends and colleagues,
no one else is likely to do it.

This is one tragedy you can stop. - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 2:09pm

Since my son is Autistic, I've heard this being true and debunked over his 15yrs. One year it's immunizations and the next it's something else.

Don't believe everything you read and see. Studies generally show what the funding body behind it wants to show. - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 4:09pm

The mercury was in a presevative used in vaccines. That preservative is no longer in use. Hasn't been for several years now.
I've looked into this fairly well I think, and from what I've read it seems that there hasn't been a sharp increase in autism since vaccines have been around, but there has been an increase in what we now recognise as autism. So it may look like the numbers are rising but we are understanding the broad spectrum of what autism is better.
Also there is debate over the MMR vaccine causing autism. This vaccine is given at one year old which is also the time when signs of autism are generally noticed. - Fri, 25 Jul 2008 8:21pm Edited: Fri, 25 Jul 2008 8:22pm

Next they'll blame it on CFL bulbs that break in the home, due to the mercury in the bulb.

They used mercury preservative vaccines when I was in preschool, kindergarten and elementary school and I can't recall any of my classmates suddenly showing signs in the spectrum. That's also one of the problems finding an exact cause because it is a spectrum disorder with varying levels of 'difficulty'.

I had all my mercury fillings removed years ago. The dentist assured me that they were harmless, yet I read somewhere that the there is enough mercury in one filling to poison an entire city watershed. Is this true? - Sat, 26 Jul 2008 12:05am

'yet I read somewhere that the there is enough mercury in one filling to poison an entire city watershed. Is this true?'

I'd doubt it. Otherwise we'd all be totally messed up from a single filling.

I did find this though.

'Amalgam and the Environment

Dental amalgam is classified as a hazardous material in the work place by OSHA, and excess dental amalgam must be disposed of according to OSHA's Material Safety Data Sheet.124 However, the health threat of amalgam scraps may potentially reach far beyond the work place in the dental office. Although most of the industrial uses of mercury have been reduced, dental offices serve as a major source of mercury contamination in our environment. This occurs when dental personnel improperly dispose of scrap dental amalgam. For example, it can pollute ground and drinking water,125 or vapors released through incineration can pollute the air.126' - Sat, 26 Jul 2008 12:09pm

Sorry to be the one to tell you Trev but you may have exposed yourself to more mercury when you had them removed than you would have if they had stayed put. It's the vapors given off that are the most toxic. It is actually safer to ingest the liquid from a broken thermometer than it would be to breathe near the spilled liquid. Of course some people are hypersensitive to mercury and should have no contact whatsoever but all of us have varying amounts of it floating around in us. I know a guy who worked closely with the stuff for a while and even though he is having skin (and other) problems as a direct result health canada says that his levels are still within safe perimeters. - Sat, 26 Jul 2008 2:53pm
