Artists getting fucked in the US is just as big of an outrage as artists getting fucked in canada. Unless you ARE an artist in canada, there is no difference. It's still an outrage. Nothing I posted denotes ignorance. I wasn't hacking on Phil for the post, I was hacking on the content. This isn't the US, so what the RIAA does in litigation means sweet FA. And if you even had a remote clue about who would even benefit from any distribution of those monies collected, you'd probably give less than 2 shits as well. The RIAA doesn't go after people that aren't ripping off non-top 40 artists. They are more than selective on who they go after. Think they go after people for ripping off artists that are indie? Fuck no, they could give a shit about real musicians. Or at least ones that don't have multi-million dollar recording contracts and large, or upcoming, labels backing them.

And yes there are people who use these boards that would and could be affected by the CRIA. Do you even have a clue on the laws up here regarding pirated music? If the CRIA wanted to be as fascist as the RIAA, we'd be seeing just as many Canadians getting dragged into court for allowing their music collections to be uploaded, to anyone. You can download up here and not break the law, but uploading is against the law. The RIAA has no jurisdiction up here, so no they couldn't do anything even if they really wanted to.

And since you asked. I was managing my fathers landscaping company by the age of 16. By the time I was 20 I was in the only harcore punk band in Regina that got every gig that came to town for about 2yrs. Yes, I was a musician. And no, I couldn't give a rats ass about the poor fucks sitting in their multi-million dollar homes whining about how horribly they're getting fucked over by piracy.

You didn't make a single point that had anything to do with what the RIAA can and can't do (which would've shown me as the one being ignorant) including whether they even have jurisdiction in Canada, since you seemed to think people up here would be affected by what they do.
