hey everyone... i'm from a nanaimo metalcore band called broken, and i'm throwing an animal rights bash at the cambie on the 27th of july. I have a few bands already, but if anyone is interested in supporting the cause and wants to play (you don't get paid, sorry!) just give me a shout. fellow vegans welcome!! - Fri, 16 Jul 2004 12:11am

Sorry this is off topic, but I've been wondering for a while....

I've been curious about what vegans use for guitar straps... Cause every guitar strap I've seen has _some_ leather on it, like the nylon straps have the bit of leather on either end.... Have i just not been looking hard enough for vegan straps (ok, I haven't been looking at all), or are they hard to come by? - Wed, 21 Jul 2004 1:58am

actually, bathrobe ties work quite well as straps... but you can use anything, really. the key to veganism is to be as weird and creative as possible... i make all of my studs and whatnot out of that nylon-type stuff that belts are made with... i also have a bullet belt, and i imagine it would make a very useful guitar strap. luckily, i'm the singer and i don't have to worry about it... the rest of my band are crazed carnivores. - Wed, 21 Jul 2004 11:59pm

The other explanation I've heard is that vegans all play acoutics and therefore it's a non-issue, but a lot of vegans know how to rock......

And you could always make an all-duct tape strap, in a pinch.... - Sat, 24 Jul 2004 4:23am

oh, we rock all right.... bloodcurdling metal screaming rock.... anyway, the show's a go to anyone in the area, there will be 7 bands and admission will be by donation with all proceeds going to the SPCA and PETA. there will be yummy food and prizes and all sorts of stuff, so come on down if you can!!! that's July 27th (tuesday) at the nanaimo cambie. oh, and the bands are: shannon, acidwash, the cum-alongs, orange edition, last to leave, the lady esther, and broken. - Sat, 24 Jul 2004 12:13pm
