Farewell to Freeway

From the flourishing Southern Ontario Punk/Hardcore scene, Farewell to Freeway mix pounding guitars, driving bass lines, keyboards, double bass, harmonies, and screams into a flurry of musical aggression. Acquiring influences from such bands as Atreyu, In Flames, Hopesfall, and Thrice, Farewell to Freeway's sound has naturally progressed. In their last 3 years of the band's existence, the songs have moved into a creative light that is harder, heavier, and darker, both musically and lyrically, then their previous work.

Comprising of Chris Lambert (founder, guitarist, and lead vocalist), his brother Adam (bassist/backing vocals), Bryan Nunn (guitarist), Richie Gregor (drummer/backing vocals), and Michelle Walter (Keyboards) Farewell to Freeway originally formed as a three piece punk rock trio. However, the band soon became exceptionally serious about their sound shortly after their inception in 2000. In the summer of 2002, Farewell to Freeway released their 2nd independent EP called "Shadybrook Sessions" and coupled with local success, allowed the band to start playing across Ontario to very receptive crowds. With an adrenaline soaked live performance and a healthy repertoire of original music, Farewell to Freeway began opening for bands like Grade, Jersey, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Belvedere, As Friends Rust, and Slick Shoes to name a few. With the bigger shows, Bryan Nunn was added as a second guitarist and has now become an important and essential addition to the band.

With a tighter line up securely established, Farewell to Freeway's song writing ability started to escalate to new heights with the introduction of a heavier sound and an extremely aggressive live show. Recently, after recording their brand new album with producer Justin Koope (Grade, Somehow Hollow, Silverstein), Farewell to Freeway signed with independent record label Year of the Sun Records. The band's new album "Between Yesterday and Today" was released on June 24th 2003. Soon after the band started experimenting with the addition of Keyboards into the music. The new instrument, played by FIIF's newest member, Michelle Walter, became perminent in Sept 2003. With mini Tours in Calgary, ALB. and the bands first road tour from Windsor, ONT to Sydney, Nova Scotia under their belts, Farewell to Freeway will be continuing to hit the road into the new year, so keep an eye out because they'll be in your area sooner than your think. It's rare to find a band to be so committed to making good music that their ability to perform and progress is as prevalent as their talent. With Farewell to Freeway the music speaks for itself and chances are you'll be screaming along with them anyway.
