About

The Breakfast

since circa 1998
THE BREAKFAST just completed work on their latest release, which is due out this fall. The new album, titled Moxie Epoxy, was recorded in Wilmington, VT and at Horizon Studios in West Haven, CT. Vic Steffens is producing the album for HMG Recordings. The new CD features the brilliant musicianship and raw talent of guitarist Tim Palmieri, bassist Ron Spears, drummer Adrian Tramontono and keyboard player Jordan Giangreco. This is THE BREAKFAST’s second release for HMG Recordings and their fifth overall.

The Jammy Award winning trio has spent the last year touring in support of their last release, REAL RADIO. The band’s national tour and non-stop schedule saw them support the likes of The Wailers, Moe, North Mississippi All-Stars, Gomez, and others. They’ve also played the 10,000 Lakes Festival in Minnesota two years in a row, as well as Moedown and many other festivals. The band also celebrated their 1,000th show at Toad’s Place in their hometown of New Haven, CT. Keyboardist Jordan Giangreco left the band this summer, but the group is continuing as a trio with Palmieri taking on keyboard and synth duties.

Their first two years as a band were spent honing THE BREAKFAST sound -- an aural cornucopia that combines the best elements of the artists the band members most admire: the groove-burning of P-Funk, the masterful precision of Mahavishnu Orchestra, the sonic reverie of Phish and the Grateful Dead, the adventurousness of Frank Zappa and the take-no-prisoners rock of Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction.

Things really started clicking for THE BREAKFAST in 2000, when four tracks from their self-titled, self-produced independent release album were featured on the MTV series, Undressed. In August of 2000 the band turned in a memorable 5 1/2-hour show at the 2000 Woodstock reunion on Yasgur's Farm.

DEUCE was released nationally in 2001 and garnered rave reviews. In addition to the insistence by Revolving Door magazine that THE BREAKFAST "deserves a huge national audience," Relix was quoted as saying “Expect Big Things” and they were featured in two separate issues in 2002. Jambase called THE BREAKFAST “the future of rock-n-roll” and has been instrumental in the bands West Coast development. THE BREAKFAST has received critical acclaim in publications like Drum Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Relix, Playboy, Vintage Guitar Magazine and many others.

THE BREAKFAST has appeared at festivals and on stages with the likes of funk legend Bernie Worrell, Widespread Panic, Black Crowes, Moe, Trey Anastasio, The Disco Biscuits, Soulive, Steve Kimock, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Dark Star Orchestra, Umphrey’s Mcgee, Particle, Robbie Kreiger of the Doors, and Country Joe to name but a few. At every stop, music fans -- Baby Boomers and Gen-Xers alike -- have found THE BREAKFAST to be a group like none they have ever heard. The band’s ability to mix up a wealth of styles and feed of their influences, combined with the pure talent and raw energy put out at every show make THE BREAKFAST a band not to be missed.
